heavy hearts, packed in small cars
travelin’ across this sunny state
big dreams, and an old guitar
our dreams will get us out of here someday
with tear-flooded eyes, i knelt to the ground
whispered “i thought things would be better this time around.”
that was when you looked at me and said
“I know there are some things that you’d like to forget,
but there’s a moment in time that you wished would never end,
and that, my friend makes all of this worth it.”
i met a man who was slurrin’ his words
he kept a gun tucked under his shirt
there’s a reason that gun wasn’t loaded
it’s a shame that i should even know this.
