“Everything I’ve Got”
I’m giving this everything I’ve got,
and in the event that it doesn’t work
at least I’ll know i gave it my best shot.
I’ve got all these “big city dreams”
but the doubts I’ve come to know
seem to be smothering me.
I’m eighteen,
trying to find a place in this world
i don’t wanna wake up wishing there was more
but before i devise how i wanna live my life
I’ve got to decide where to start
I’m not even sure i know what i want
i just know without it I’ll be lost
and i can’t bear to see
a life without you close enough
so i can hear your heart beating.
i finally feel like there’s a path to follow
I’m not slipping on the gravel
and there’s paved cement up along the way
and there’s the hope that all of us find it someday
i need a second to rearrange my thoughts
i need a second and now that’s all I’ve got
everything sounds exactly the same
like a year ago today, everything is so mundane
this was recorded over a month ago, but I’m a slacker and haven’t recorded anything new for Nicolas to listen to, so this is for him, haha
